Prof. Wanja Tenambergen

PhD-DVC Academics, Riara University

Prof. Wanja Tenambergen is an Associate Professor of Health Systems Management with over 20 years of experience in higher education. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the Association for Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching (AFELT) and the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic Affairs at Riara University.

Prof. Tenambergen is an advocate for improving learning and teaching in higher education. She strongly believes that faculty development is key to enhancing the quality of education and actively promotes partnerships that drive excellence in teaching, research, and innovation.

Her academic and research interests focus on health financing and expanding access to primary healthcare in low- and middle-income countries. She has held several leadership positions, including Director of Research, Innovation, and Extension, Director of University Advancement and Marketing, and Chairperson of the Department of Health Systems Management at Kenya Methodist University.

Prof. Tenambergen is committed to shaping policies and strategies that elevate the learning experience, ensuring that education remains relevant, impactful, and responsive to global and community needs.

Ms. Mary Wanjiku Kiguru

AFELT Founder / Secretary

Mary Kiguru is a systemic change designer and a learning development expert. Over six years Mary hasworked with different organizations to address youth employability dilemma in Kenya. She has developed an ecosystem that systematically engages stakeholders to address youth employability. She has led in the designof the Wezesha Journey, a model that guides students in curating their own career path and implemented
through EFAC (www.efac.org).

Working with Universities and as the lead designer in the Association forFaculty Enrichment, she led a team of professors across East Africa in designing a pedagogical model for employability: Transforming Employability for Social Change in East Africa. Mary Kiguru serves as theDirector of Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, where she provides strategic leadership for
EFAC in developing strategies to empower youth for the world of work. In her portfolio, she has designed theEducation-to-Employment Bridge program that equips the scholars with requisite skills for the world of work.

Mary is passionate about Youth and their development, guiding them in designing the future they wantand striving towards that future. She is a founder member and the Secretary General for the Association for Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (www.afelt.org). Mary’s PhD research ison Leadership and Governance focusing on self-leadership.

Mr. Desmond Otwoma

AFELT Treasurer

Desmond is a highly accomplished business strategy and performance management consultant, currently serving as the treasurer of AFELT. With an expanding portfolio of satisfied clients, such as Mount Kenya Academy, Kabete National Polytechnic, Riara University, Rubis Energies, OLEA Africa Insurance, and Olympia Capital Holdings Ltd, he has proven himself as a trusted partner in business performance. His career also includes significant leadership roles at Africa Nazarene University, where he served as Head of Strategy and Planning, Director of Quality Assurance, and Dean of Students, alongside teaching at the School of Business.

Dr. Chip Kingsbury

Board Member and founder of AFELT

Rev. Charles E. Kingsbury, PhD, is a dedicated educator and ordained minister. He is a founder and executive board member at AFELT. He served as the Coordinator for the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) at Daystar University, Nairobi, for over 20 years.
With a doctorate in Adult Education, Dr. Kingsbury is passionate about fostering transformative learning in African higher education. He is actively involved in research and has published works focused on facilitating impactful learning and teaching methodologies. His commitment to both spiritual growth and academic excellence makes him a respected figure in the Daystar community.

Prof. Damary Sikalieh

Prof. Damary Sikalieh is a distinguished scholar and educator specializing in management and entrepreneurship.
She holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship Education and Human Resource Development from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champain. Currently, she serves as a Professor at the Chandaria School of Business, United States International University – Africa. Prof. Sikalieh has extensive experience in teaching, research, and curriculum development, with a focus on organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, and human resource development. She is a respected voice in her field, having published extensively and contributed to various projects promoting transformative learning and entrepreneurship in Africa

Dr.Syprine Otieno

AFELT Assistant Secretary

Dr.Otieno is an educator at Kenyatta University with interest in transformative learning. She is also a researcher in the area of Animal Physiology, with special interest in biological control of pests, including insects and rodents. Her research work also includes the role of insect growth regulators in the control of tsetse flies in Rusinga Island. She is member of various professional organizations, such as, Association for Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching (AFELT), Kenya DAAD Scholars Association (KDSA) and African Association of Insect Scientists (AAIS), and a Fellow of Higher Academy (FHA)

Ms. Aurelia Munene

Executive Member and Public Relations Lead in AFELT

Aurelia Munene is an accomplished social development practitioner. She is the founder of Eider Africa, an organisation that designs and delivers research mentorship programs with and for early career researchers. She conducts gender and social inclusion research from a feminist intersectional lens in across sectors. She is an advisory committee member at PREreview, a Board member of the Rotary Club of Muthaiga. She is a Personal Development Coach at the AMID Young Professional Program of the Radboud University and University of Nairobi. She is an Associate member of the International Network for Advancing Science and Policy(INASP). She has authored over 50 reports, 2 book chapters and 5 peer reviewed journal articles. She has been a keynote speaker and speaker at international and national conferences and she has served as a member of the Scientific Review Committee in conferences.
